‘I Wish You Love’ is the exciting debut album from The David Ricky Band. Featuring an all-star line-up ‘I Wish You Love’ is fronted by legendary South African musician and vocalist David Ricky with consummate support from acclaimed musicians Tony Drake (Piano / Keyboards), Johnny Baatjes (Drums), Colin Brown (Double Bass), William Haubrich (Trumpet), Matthew Reid (Clarinet) and Zbichek Kobacek on Trombone and Piano Accordion. The album features exquisite renditions of standards such as ‘Let It Be Me’ (The Everly Brothers), ‘Rain’ (José Feliciano), ‘La Vie En Rose’ (Édith Piaf) and ‘Adon Olam’ a song of praise meaning ‘Lord of the World’ sung in Hebrew. ‘I Wish You Love’ also features two superb original compositions ‘You Are Beautiful’ and ‘Dance With You’ written by celebrated South African songwriter Andre Pienaar.

“I Wish You Love is a celebration of the songs that I wanted to sing. I also wanted to show off the bands groove and feel on tunes like “Let It Be Me” done in Waltz time (6/8), “Hello Dolly” with its energy and pazazz, the traditional Jewish praise song ‘Adon Olam’ with an exciting four key changes and “My Wife the Dancer” which lets the band have some fun with its cheeky tempo. The album is masterfully arranged and produced by Tony Drake with recording and mixing by award winning engineer Fernando Perdigao at Atomic Studios in Cape Town.” - David Ricky
